What is Color May Vary?
Color May Vary began as a way to celebrate and highlight the array of black-owned beauty brands and products in the industry. Discover and share makeup, skincare, body care, hair care, and wellness brands for any beauty enthusiast.
What does the name Color May Vary mean?
The range of skin tones in the world varies quite a bit from what is commonly accessible in the beauty market and in department stores. All shades of skin are different and need to be represented. One hue is not the same as another—Color May Vary.
What are your submission requirements?
If you’d like to submit your beauty brand to be included in the guide, please follow the instructions on the submit page. We look at each submission to make sure it’s a real business where customers can purchase products. We also take into consideration the quality of products, branding, and marketing, as well as the overall presentation of the brand on your website and social media.
If your brand fits the criteria of our guide, we’ll add it to the list! If we’re not able to respond due to a high level of submissions, please consider this thank you as an extension of our gratitude.
How long will it take to see my brand in the guide once I’ve submitted it?
We’re a small operation so please bear with us if you don’t see your brand added quickly. Weekly updates are made in the order they’ve been submitted. Paid ads are added to the guide on the 1st and 15th of each month. For more info on paid advertising see the related question below.
